Council Chambers 6th August 1872.

Present the Mayor and Aldermen Conley, Henderson, Galvin, Hobbs and Smith.

Minutes:

The minutes of previous meeting were read, and confirmed on the motion of Aldermen Henderson and Conley.

Correspondence:

Letters from Captain Pockley and Mr Surveyor Brownrigg, soliciting the co-operation of the Council by petitioning the Government to reconsider the claim of a right of way from the grant known as “Kings Clear” over the Waterloo estate to the Botany Road.

Moved by Alderman Conley, seconded by Alderman Smith, “that the Mayor be authorised to expend the necessary amount to complete the formation of the Newtown side of Liberty Street, as soon as the Petersham Council are prepared to perform the necessary Works on their side of the Street”. Carried.

Council Chambers 20th August 1872.

Present the Mayor and Aldermen Conley, Cozens, Smith, Henderson and Bedford.

Minutes:

The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and confirmed on the motion of Aldermen Henderson and Cozens.

Balance sheet:

The balance sheet for the last half-year, duly audited, was read and adopted on the motion of Aldermen Conley and Henderson.

Motion pursuant to notice:

Moved by Alderman Conley, seconded by Alderman Smith, “that a sum not exceeding £35 be voted for Kerbing and guttering a portion of Albermarle and Baltic streets, from Oxford Street to Horbury Terrace”. Carried.

Moved by Alderman Cozens, seconded by Alderman Bedford, “that the Municipal Council of Petersham be requested to complete the formation of that portion of Liberty Street, between Stanmore Road and Cavendish street; also to continue the drainpipes across their portion of Liberty Street at the Stanmore Road”. Carried.

On the motion of Aldermen Henderson and Bedford the Council went into Committee to determine on tenders for Kerbing and guttering certain lanes in the Kingston Ward.

On Council resuming the Mayor reported that the Committee recommend the acceptance of Mr West’s tender at four shillings and two pence and three shillings and eleven pence per lineal yard.

Report adopted on the motion of Aldermen Henderson and Bedford.

The Council then rose.
