CRS609 Newtown Socials Club Minute Book
The volume in this series recorded the business of general and committee meetings, principally to do with the organisation of annual programs of social dances in Newtown. The volume is the only known minute book of the Newtown Socials Club.
The minute book was handwritten and organised chronolgically by date of meeting. It was not indexed but at the back of the volume the names and addresses of committee members were recorded.
There are a few loose inserts at the front of the volume: invitation to a dance at the Oddfellows’ Hall in Wilson Street in August 1903, account for liquor purchases at the Oxford Hotel in 1903, subscription notices. The majority of the meetings were held at May’s Oxford Hotel on King Street, Newtown.
