Council Chambers July 6th 1863.

Present the Chairman and Councillors Knight, Curtis, Bailey, Kingsbury, Conley and Bedford.

Moved by Councillor Curtis, seconded by Councillor Bedford, that the minutes of proceedings of previous meeting be read and confirmed. Carried

Correspondence:

Letter from Captain Eastwood requesting that the rate paid by Staff Sergeant Bennett for premises occupied by Government be refunded; Council Clerk to reply stating that the house if in question not being the property of the Government cannot claim exemption.

Miscellaneous Business:

Council Clerk to call on Mrs Short and ascertain if a pig complained of by Mr Losee is a nuisance that, if so to endeavour to have the nuisance removed.

Motions of which notice had been given:

Moved by Councillor Knight, seconded by Councillor Bedford, that this Council advertise for tenders for the construction of culverts across Bedford, Regent and Denison Streets, the cost not to exceed 100 pounds. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Bailey, seconded by Councillor Bedford, that this Council vote the sum of four pounds to be expended in fixing a rail to protect foot passengers in Station Street and also to vote the sum of six pounds to form Union Street. Carried.

Council Chambers July 20th. 1863.

Moved by Councillor Knight, seconded by Councillor Conley, that the minutes of proceedings of previous meeting be read and confirmed. Carried.

Reports:

From Finance Committee. Read and received.

Moved by Councillor Conley, seconded by Councillor Curtis, that the report of the Finance Committee received recommending the payment of accounts amounting to 51 pounds eight shillings and threepence be adopted. Carried.

Miscellaneous business:

Balance sheet as audited received and adopted.

Moved by Councillor Bailey, seconded by Councillor Cullen, that the Clerk convey the thanks of this Council to Messrs Robert Mayhew and H. Phillips for their trouble in auditing the half-year accounts. Carried unanimously.

Moved by Councillor Bailey, seconded by Councillor Knight, that the Clerk be instructed to make a section of the foot paths with viz. view to estimating the cost of kerbing from the Newtown tollgate to the Railway Bridge.

Motions of which notice has been given:

Moved by Councillor Curtis, seconded by Councillor Cullen that the Clerk be instructed to survey Missenden Road and report the cost of forming the same as also the cost of covering the same with white metal. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Curtis, seconded by Councillor Bedford, that tenders be called for forming O’Connell and Prospect Streets, the cost not to exceed 25 pounds. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Conley, seconded by Councillor Knight, that this Council vote the sum of 20 pounds for the purpose of forming and repairing Charles Street. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Bailey, seconded by Councillor Bedford, that the Chairman be empowered to purchase 50 tons of blue metal as per sample to be delivered where required in the Municipality, the cost as specified on card viz.; first quality at 10 shillings and 10 pence per ton. Carried.

Present the Chairman and Councillors Munro, Conley, Knight, Kingsbury, Bedford, Bailey, and Curtis.

Moved by Councillor Kingsbury, seconded by Councillor Knight, that the minutes of proceedings of previous meeting be confirmed.

Motions of which notice has been given:

Moved by Councillor Conley, seconded by Councillor Munro, that the Surveyor be instructed to survey Australia Street and report any encroachment in accordance with the original Kingston Estate Plan with a view to the Council taking action in the matter. Carried unanimously.

Moved by Councillor Bedford, seconded by Councillor Curtis, that the Clerk be instructed to survey Buckingham Street and call for tenders to form same. Carried unanimously.

Moved by Councillor Curtis, seconded by Councillor Bedford, that the sum of to 20 pounds be expended on the Camperdown Road viz.; 10 pounds from Kingston and 10 pounds from O’Connell Wards. Carried unanimously.
